Franciso Rodriguez Jr goes to the backyard of Galal Yafai on Saturday aiming to snatch the WBC interim title.
The Mexican will have the opportunity to land a huge flyweight title fight against unified champion Kenshiro Teraji.
However, he first has to overcome Birmingham’s own in Resorts World on June 21st.
A tall task for any fighter travelling over to an opponent’s hometown, Rodriguez is not phased.
This will be the seventh time in 47 fights competing outside of his native Mexico.
Speaking to Ring Magazine, the 31-year-old said: “I’m already used to that type of scenario.
“Each of those fights taught me how to adapt from the journey to the ring and in this one I will apply each of those experiences.”
What he expects on Saturday night for the fans is a great style matchup and one component of the Brummies he believes ensures it.
“I hope the fight is enjoyable for those watching us fight,” he said.
“(Yafai’s) a good fighter; he’s an Olympic medalist. Regarding what Yafai does well, it’s his type of pressure when boxing.
“I think it will be a good fight.”
Rodriguez: ‘Edwards left a lot to be desired’ Yafai fight
Last time out, the Olympic Gold medallist picked up the interim belt with a sixth round TKO victory over Sunny Edwards.
The performance was his most impressive to date over a name synonymous with the division in Britain.
While impressed by the way the 32-year-old dismantled Edwards, he felt his opponent didn’t show enough.
Rodriguez said: “Yes, I’ve seen it clearly, he was very good in the Sunny fight.
“I think Yafai, more than doing well, but Sunny Edwards left a lot to be desired.”
Fighters don’t like to reveal gameplans during fight week and ‘Chihuas’ is no different.
“I think what’s necessary to win on June 21 is to reflect my work, some of my best preparations in the ring.
“Regarding strategy, I’d rather invite you to watch on June 21 in Birmingham, England.”
While the prospect of a huge fight against Teraji looms for both men, the focus for this boxer is on the Brit first and foremost.
“That’s right, but first it’s about winning. Then going for Kenshiro, wherever and whatever it takes.
“But first I have a commitment this weekend, and Yafai deserves my respect.”
