Johnny Fisher was brutally knocked out by Dave Allen in their decisive domestic rematch.
It was an important rematch at the Copper Box as Allen re-wrote the wrongs of their controversial clash in Saudi Arabia.
A back and forth contest began to unravel in the fifth for Fisher with a left to the body followed by the overhand right startling the prospect.
A barrage of punches sent Fisher to one knee, that’s when Doncaster’s own pounced and unleashed a brutal left hook, right hand for a vicious finish.
Following the result, Allen said: “This means everything to me. I’ve been written off so many times.
“You know what it means? The belt, everything, my kids.
“I’m gonna have an en suite, they’ll have their own bathroom between them.”
He explained how the “risk he took” was putting on more weight as he expected body shots which he knew would “pay dividends”.
Allen’s Plan After Vicious Finish
The ‘White Rhino’ picked up his first professional title, the WBA Intercontinental belt , in the process of his vicious KO.
While Eddie Hearn was quick to mention the rematch clause, Allen put a pin in that plan.
“He’s my friend. He’s a very good friend of mine,” he said.
“I wouldn’t allow [a trilogy fight] to happen, because it’s not in his best interests.”
Instead, he has targeted a homecoming fight in Doncaster or Sheffield before moving onto an English or British title shot.
Currently the English title sits vacant so for the 33-year-old it could be an easier route to another belt.
But if the goal is British champion he will have to wait for the winner of another domestic rematch.
David Adeleye and Jemaine TKV are set to square off on a Queensbury show to be announced in the summer.
The winner could find themselves against an in form Allen if all goes smoothly.
Fisher ‘More to do’ after KO
A difficult road ahead for the man on the end of the devastating finish.
Fisher was brutally knocked out for the first time in his career, the boxer took to Instagram to send a message to his fans.
He wrote: “Last night I was defeated for the first time. We have come a long way from when I begun my journey, but it is clear there is much more to do.
“The first bump in the road of my young career. 26 years old, ready for the next chapter … roll on the next challenge.”
It is clear he wants to carry on with his career but of course no concrete plans have been made yet regarding a return.
However, he will need to build back up before facing a fighter the level of Dave Allen.
