Julio Cesar Chavez Jr looks to knock Jake Paul in his pursuit for a cruiserweight title shot on Saturday night.
Chavez will compete in his first contest since a decision win over former MMA star Uriah Hall last year.
During the build-up, the Mexican has not held back on his thoughts of the influencer turned boxer.
At the final press conference, Paul was described as a ‘great boxer’ but the 39-year-old wasn’t buying it.
He said: “No, I don’t think he’s good. I think he tries, he trains hard, but he’s not a good fighter.
“He’s definitely not a good boxer.
“If he were a good boxer, then everyone else on this stage would be a legend. I don’t think he’s a good boxer, and everybody knows that.”
Paul has racked up an 11-1 record with his only loss coming to Tommy Fury in 2023.
However, despite a record predominantly made up of retired UFC fighters, he may find himself in line for a championship opportunity.
Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, the unified champion, who features as the co-main event is open to an offer from the 28-year-old.
Chavez Sr makes his Jake Paul fight prediction
Many will know the ‘Problem Child’s’ most infamous fight against Mike Tyson in Netflix’s first ever boxing event.
A 58-year-old Tyson struggled to do much in the ring despite a slightly intense build to the bout.
One man who believes the star is in over his head for this fight is the father of his opponent, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.
The legendary multi-division world champion believes wholeheartedly that his son will be the next loss on Paul’s resume.
Speaking at the presser, Chavez gave a straightforward prediction.
He said: “Jake Paul just fought against Mike Tyson, who didn’t even throw one punch.
“This is not Mike Tyson. You (Jake) are going to get your ass whooped.
“Julio is going to go in throwing some serious punches, and you’re going to be running like a chicken without a head.”
While many in the industry make Paul a favourite due to the recent form of Chavez, there is a chance he can roll back the years.
