The ‘assassin’ Adam Azim is back in Barnsley on Saturday night as he faces Elliot Chaves on the undercard of Callum Simpson v Ivan Zucco.
After dispatching of Sergey Lipinets at Wembley Arena in February on his own main event the man from Slough looks to extend his unbeaten record to 14-0.
The Brit was deducted two points for low blows in the fight but after dropping him in the third he continued his onslaught until the referee waved it off in the ninth.
He faces experienced Mexican Elliot Chavez who comes into this fight with 12 wins and 7 losses with 3 of them coming in the last 4, one of them included fellow Brit Harlem Eubank, where he was only disqualified.
He has most notably been in the ring with Angel Contreras and Mauricio Lara who he beat back in 2018, with also fighting fellow Mexican William Zepeda who he lost to a year later.
His last fight coming last month against Hector Vargas where he got his 7th knockout of his pro career as he seeks for a huge upset.
Adam Azim will get the chance to fight at Oakwell Stadium on Saturday in an undercard that includes Mark Jeffers and Rhys Edwards, with hometown hero Callum Simpson headlining once again in Barnsley.
Is Dalton Smith still the next fight for Adam Azim?
With Azim already currently ranked in the top 15 in the WBC and the WBA a win could help him push up the rankings, as well as hunting tor bigger fights like Dalton Smith.
Dalton Smith seems to be more interested in his potential fight against Alberto Puello for the WBC Super-lightweight title as his recent form has made him the mandatory challenger for that belt.
On the Toe2Toe podcast Smith said ‘at the moment the fight is in the rear mirror, I want to create my own legacy and win world titles, but the fight will happen’.
Other potential fights could include, Angel Fierro, Pierce O’Leary, Subriel Matias and many others in what is a stacked Super-Lightweight division.
