Dana White reacted to Shara Magomedov defeat at UFC fight night.
The question remains what is next for Shara after Saturday’s disappointing performance.
Dana White has to also reward Michael ‘Venom’ Page for his performance.
Dana White Reacts to Shara Magomedov UFC Defeat
After being touted heavily as a favourite for his upcoming fight against MVP, many expected a easy win for Shara Magomedov. The Russian has taken the division by storm swiftly climbing through the rankings. However, the hype train was derailed as MVP produced a masterful performance to defeat the Russian.
UFC boss Dana White had his say and said, “You have to be aggressive with Page, but it’s a weird situation to be in because he’s a counter-striker, and he sort of sits back and waits for you.”
“I think styles make fights, and MVP is a very tough style to fight,” White said. “He lays back and counter punches. If you go in guns a’blazing, he’s a real good counter puncher. And if you have a hard time getting off, there’s a lot of standing around and staring at each other.
Dana White went on to say; “Page is just a hard style to fight. I don’t think this diminishes (Magomedov) in any way, and I don’t think it had anything to do with him freezing. Let’s not forget: The guy has one eye. That doesn’t help.”
MVP Shines in Tricky Matchup
Britain’s Michael Venom Page shone in what was perceived to be a tough matchup for him. Despite losing his last fight to Ian Garry MVP showed no sign of nerves as he dominated the fight. MVP did state that he would move back down to welterweight after this fight.
Shara Magomedov struggled to enforce his game plan and seemed static against MVP game plan. The Russian struggled to land any meaningful hits in the first two rounds. As a result of this Magomedov was forced to push the pace in the last round meaning he was vulnerable on the counter. Dana White will have to think carefully when he next match up Shara Magomedov in his next fight.
